Saturday 9th September – A day retreat on the 37 verses of living as a Bodhisattva

On this day retreat, through meditating, reflecting and discussion in groups, we will look at a text called The 37 Verses. The text, by a Tibetan teacher, is a condensed form of Santideva’s Bodhicaryavatara, or Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life. A Bodhisattva is a being on the path to Enlightenment who practices awareness within a vision of growing and developing not just for his/her own sake but for everyone’s sake. The 37 verses asks us in down-to-earth terms to look at the conditions in our lives, our mental states and our views which may need transforming in a positive direction to being us closer to this inspiring vision.
